ED Products recently engaged Creative Manufacturing Solutions to execute a teamwork meeting at our facility in St. Catharines. This was a business process flow mapping exercise involving our senior management group. Robert Jolliffe facilitated the meeting, and introduced us to the Theory of Constraints Thinking Process using the Current Reality Tree concept.
A major challenge in Visual is the fact that correcting a labor ticket where some parts were Auto-Issued during the original labor ticket creation does NOT auto-issue-return the same parts.
For example, if on assembly of one Wagon you backflush : 4 wheels, 122 Grams of paint, 2 axles and 1 handle and the employee records 60 wagons instead of 6 – then you have to manually enter Visual to return 216 wheels, 108 axles, 54 handles and 6588 Grams of paint. Larger and more complicated jobs require even more calculations and there is a lot of room for error.
The Auto-Issue Return Tool is a light weight tool designed to allow customers to eliminate all these additional issue-return transactions by automatically calculating and issue returning the amount based on the same logic Visual uses to issue the materials. Some limitations exist (for instance, the Auto-Issue return tool cannot adjust automatically created labor tickets that visual will sometimes create on Auto-Reporting operations, although it can issue-return the materials correctly.).
The tool saves tremendous time in issue-returning the vast majority of parts and completely eliminates human error.
